Hey we've had some summer at last! Next Wednesday 6 August a few of us are gathering at Cukierenke (Sweet Tooth Cafe) in Bedford Place to discuss the possibility of a photography exhibition; 'Images of Southampton.' You'd be welcome to join us around 7pm and add your thoughts.

1) Come for a Walk! EU Welcome is organising 2 more guided walks exploring Southampton’s history. These take place on Friday 8 August at 7pm, and Sunday 17 August at 2pm (This walk will have Polish translation*) Meet at the Bargate. Come and find out more about Southampton and explore some of the medieval vaults (cellars) underground. These walks have been organised in Association with Warner Goodman Solicitors
2) Have you ever considered doing a university degree in England ? Maybe you feel it would be too expensive, too difficult or your English is not good enough. Come to Solent University Open Evening for EU students on Wednesday 13 August from 6pm to 8pm. Contact us for more details
3) Our next Advice Evening takes place on Friday 15 August from 6pm to 8pm We help people fill in forms, create a CV, and give information on benefits, work and housing issues plus anything else that is on your mind, and now we co-operate with the Polish* Psychologists' Club to be able to help people going through stressful times. So come along to George Williams House, YMCA Building ,Cranbury Place SO14 0LG (near London Road and Inner Avenue )
4) On the last Tuesday in each month Target Accounting and Lloyd’s/TSB Bank run an open evening at Target’s office 488 Portswood Road so17 3sp. It’s a chance to open accounts and to ask any banking, financial or tax questions with Polish interpreters available. The next one takes place on Tuesday 26 August from 7pm. 5) ‘Let’s Talk About..’ Informal Café Chat 7pm Wednesday 3 September at Cukierenke (Sweet Tooth) Café, 22 Bedford Place so15 2bd. 6) The Parent and Children's group at St Boniface Church, Shirley High Street happens each Tuesday morning. If you have children under 5, or know people who have, it is a great place to come. It runs from 10am, and is open to all Eastern European families. We will be running this throughout the Summer!
7) 'See You in Court!' On Thursday 25 September we are invited to the Magistrates Court to see how British justice works! It will be from 9.45am till about 1.30pm with a free lunch prvided. Places limited, so booking essential. Either mail me, or text to book your space
* We have translation into Polish available at all of our meetings, but will always try to offer translation into other languages. Let us know if this is needed

Volunteer helpline workers
Southampton Women’s Aid is currently looking for women to be involved in our volunteer helpline project.
You will be answering the phone and providing a supportive, listening service to women facing domestic violence. You will be providing them with information about their options and, if appropriate, referring them onto
refuge and outreach services. We value our volunteers and can offer you excellent training, support and
a warm welcome to our team. Although, we will be prioritising applications from women who have used a

d)At Totton College , ESOL classes (English for Speakers of Other Languages) start on 8th September, but you can join daytime or evening classes at any time. You can join small, friendly groups from Beginners to Advanced levels, with University of Cambridge qualifications.
